Collaboration

Star Mezzo Jennifer Larmore with International Quintet, OpusFive present a wonderful program to showcase their talents together and individually.

Duets for Jennifer and the great violinist Sebastian Hamann from the operas:  Lakmé, Hansel & Gretel and Les Contes d'Hoffmann; Arias from Hercules, Ariodante, Carmen and La Cenerentola plus songs by Obradors and Strauss. There is also a hauntingly beautiful oratorio aria from Bach's Matthew Passion.

Jennifer shows her versatility and strengths while OpusFive show why they are some of the most talented musicians in the world with The Art of the Fugue by Bach and their stunning collaboration with Jennifer Larmore.

Recitals with piano are always intimate and entertaining, but with a string quintet there is an added dimension of depth and interest due to the sound of the strings. Adding a double bass into the mix turns the whole thing into a little orchestra!

Jennifer works with OpusFive to bring to the listening public a varied and unique way of presenting favorite songs and arias. The combination of the voice and the first violin in duet is very touching in the Hansel & Gretel, Bach's "Erbarme dich"  as well as Strauss' gorgeous song entitled Morgen. Offenbach's Barcarolle is brought to life with the violin taking the mezzo voice and Jennifer the part of "Giulietta" the Courtesan. Francesc Prat has arranged the Dopo Notte from Handel's Ariodante and the Spanish songs to showcase Jennifer's flare for drama and the Carmen arias to feature the vibrant energy of the group. It is a real homage to the fiery Gypsy! What would a recital or concert from Jennifer Larmore be without a Rossini aria? Angelina's "Non piu mesta" from La Cenerentola caps it all off with coloratura fireworks and crisp Rossini accents from OpusFive.
